Additional Services

Arthritis management:

Studies have shown that osteoarthritis affects up to 90% of felines over the age of 12 and 60% of dogs have radiographic evidence of degenerative joint disease. Our pets are excellent at hiding their discomfort, making this progressive condition difficult for owners to pick up on and often goes underdiagnosed despite being the number one cause of chronic pain in our patients. Once a diagnosis of degenerative joint disease has been made, we can work together to develop a multimodal treatment protocol to get your four-legged friend feeling more comfortable. From supplements backed by research to a large array of medications, lifestyle changes, and nutrition modifications, we have lots to pick from! We are very open to finding board-certified orthopedic surgeons to refer you to as well if that is what your pet needs.

Weight and Nutritional Management:

Approximately 60% of dogs and cats are overweight, which is often difficult for owners to accept, especially when our pets are so good at convincing us that they deserve a little bit of extra food! However, excess adipose tissue is not an inert substance and can lead to a slew of pathologies, such as respiratory and cardiovascular disorders, endocrine and orthopedic diseases, as well certain forms of cancer. Obesity can easily be prevented in most cases with a proper nutrition and exercise plan. If your pet comes to us with a few kilos to lose, we can establish a detailed feeding protocol taking into account the food they are fed (including ALL treats and supplements), current and ideal weights, and caloric expenditure. There are many different tools that can make weight loss seamless, but we will need your help to work towards your pet’s ideal bodyweight.

Urgent Care:

While we are not an emergency hospital, we do have the capacity to see your pet during regular business hours if something comes up that is causing your pet discomfort. However, being a primary care facility, we do not have the staff on hand to keep critical cases overnight. In those instances, we would stabilize your pet and refer it to a 24/7 hospital to receive more intensive treatment.

End of life Care, Euthanasia and Aftercare:

One of the greatest privileges of our profession is to give owners a safe and peaceful environment to say goodbye to their pets. When the time comes, we will be available to answer any questions you may have about the process to help ease your concerns and establish an aftercare plan that respects your wishes for your beloved friend.
